EMLC, the principal sponsor of the EMLC Academy Trust is a charity created for educational purposes originally established in 2002 mainly to support the development of outstanding education leadership. It has delivered significant training programmes most of which have been delivered through contracts with the National College of School Leadership (currently the National College for Teaching and Leadership). EMLC is a national expert in identifying, developing and assessing talented leaders for schools – this includes aspiring leaders.
Since 2008 EMLC has held national assessment contracts and now holds the national contract on behalf of the new National College for Teaching and Leadership for the assessment of a new suite of qualifications at Masters Level: NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship), NPQML (National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership) and NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership). It is also a provider of leadership coaching, mentoring and development programmes.
Third Wave Enterprises (TWE) is a provider of commissioned school improvement services and has a particular expertise in improving teaching. It is accredited to deliver the Improving Teacher Programme (ITP), the Outstanding Teacher Programme (OTP) and the Outstanding Facilitator Programme (OFP) and trains Teaching Schools to deliver these programmes. It also has significant expertise at delivering academy and school improvement audits for academy chains, local authorities and individual schools, and in partnership with EMLC delivers leadership improvement consultancies, particularly in improving the leadership and management of teaching, learning and progression.
EMLC and TWE have strategic partnerships with Ruth Miskin Training, a high quality deliverer of literacy and language training programmes, and a high quality deliverer of numeracy training programmes.
