COPY OF LETTER TO ALL PARENTS AND CARERS AT STIMPSON AVENUE ACADEMY

22nd July 2015

Dear Parent / Carer

Change in Leadership at Stimpson Avenue Academy

I am writing to clarify the situation regarding the announcement of Mr Darren Smith’s resignation from the Stimpson Avenue Academy and his appointment by another local school.

I can confirm Mr Smith has resigned from Stimpson Avenue Academy and the official process which accompanies this action has been finalised this morning. While EMLC Academy Trust understands parents and carers would want to be made aware of such important developments as soon as possible, we were not in a position to make a formal announcement before today. As is our standard practice on all significant developments at our academies, we are immediately communicating this important development to you as soon as the official process had been completed, in accordance with best practice.

We regret that so many of the parents and carers of children at Stimpson Avenue Academy have learned about Mr Smith’s departure through other sources. EMLC Academy Trust had every intention of being the first to inform parents and carers directly once all details had been officially completed, in accordance with best practice.

EMLC Academy Trust has worked tirelessly over the last year to achieve the improved results, particularly in Year 6.

EMLC Academy Trust endeavours to be open and transparent with parents and carers in everything we do. We assure you we are committed to keeping all parents and carers at our academies informed on all significant matters within our control which have an impact on their children’s education.

As you would rightly expect, EMLC Academy Trust has already begun the recruitment process to find an exceptional replacement for Mr Smith, who will be capable of continuing the substantial improvements which we have already started to achieve at Stimpson Academy. We would like to emphasise our dedication to providing outstanding leadership and ensuring an exemplary transition, which will lead to even further progress and better outcomes. We fully expect to be able to achieve this in time for Mr Smith’s departure in January 2016.

We would like to thank Mr Smith for his hard work and commitment to the early stage of improvements at Stimpson Avenue Academy and wish him well for his future career.

I hope this clarifies the situation and we look forward to seeing you all again in September.

Kind regards

Jan Marshall

CEO EMLC Academy Trust
